DMS Durham Youth Jazz 2025-26

Join DMS Youth Jazz to play Jazz, Funk, Soul, Pop and Swing in a fun and exciting band. Take your first steps into improvisation and find your creativity in a casual environment. We play several concerts every year and take part in the Great North Big Band Festival. You don't need to have played jazz before to give it a go! The groups is suitable for brass, woodwind, guitar, piano/keyboard and drums from Grade 3 to 8.

Momentum - Brass Festival Durham 2026

Momentum: a collaborative project with the NASUWT Brass Band and DMS brass students from Durham Johnston School, St Margaret's and Thornhill Primary Schools. Students and members of the NASUWT Brass Band have worked collaboratively in workshops, playing together a wide variety of original and traditional music in anticipation of the event at the Locomotion Museum.
Durham City Orchestra and Durham Stars End of Year Concert

Durham Music City Orchestra and Durham Stars Orchestra will be performing an informal sharing concert for parents/carers. Rehearsal at 4p.m. - Parents/carers please arrive at 4.35p.m for concert to begin at 4.40p.m.

A fun group for pupils in Years 5 and 6 who already receive small group recorder lessons in school. Come along and transfer your skills to flute. A fun way to learn a new instrument, make new friends and take part in a music group all at the same time!

We aim to have a number of performances in prestigious venues across the year to celebrate the talent of our young people.
