DMS Stars Strings Weardale 2025-25

DMS Stars Weardale is a fun and friendly group of violinists who meet together every Monday at Wolsingham School.

This is often the very first band our pupils play in and we play musical games, fun pieces and learn to play together in a group.

Whether you've started or you've been playing for a few years, come and join in! Our young musicians will learn how to follow a conductor, how to play in time with each other and how independent parts fit together to make our music group sound amazing! It's a great opportunity to meet other musicians, make friends and play fun music every Monday! We will also be working towards performing in concerts throughout the year.

Rehearsals are held weekly on a Monday during term time from 4.00 pm to 4.45 pm at Wolsingham School.

Momentum - Brass Festival Durham 2026

Momentum: a collaborative project with the NASUWT Brass Band and DMS brass students from Durham Johnston School, St Margaret's and Thornhill Primary Schools. Students and members of the NASUWT Brass Band have worked collaboratively in workshops, playing together a wide variety of original and traditional music in anticipation of the event at the Locomotion Museum.
Durham City Orchestra and Durham Stars End of Year Concert

Durham Music City Orchestra and Durham Stars Orchestra will be performing an informal sharing concert for parents/carers. Rehearsal at 4p.m. - Parents/carers please arrive at 4.35p.m for concert to begin at 4.40p.m.

A fun group for pupils in Years 5 and 6 who already receive small group recorder lessons in school. Come along and transfer your skills to flute. A fun way to learn a new instrument, make new friends and take part in a music group all at the same time!
Durham Music Youth & Training Choirs - Summer Leavers' Soiree

An hour-long concert by the Youth and Training Choirs, featuring performances by our Youth Choir leavers.

Aycliffe Rocks is a group for anyone interested in playing rock and pop music led by a professional musician/tutor. We aim to have a number of performances in prestigious venues across the year to celebrate the talent of our young people. It is available to anyone who plays drums, guitar, bass, keyboards and vocals covering a wide range of styles.

WE NEED YOU - To continue to develop Youth Voice within DMS, we are recruiting Secondary pupils aged 11-18 to be part of our current Youth Committee. We are looking for pupils across the county who feel they can make a contribution to DMS by being part of this group that will be working alongside staff to share their thoughts and ideas on how we can provide the best service for them.

DMS Darlington Rocks is a weekly twilight session run by specialist Rock & Pop tutors at Longfield Academy for students of grade 3 or above on drums, guitar and vocals.
